Do I need any experience?No prior experience is necessary and all levels of fitness can enjoy learning BJJ. We take pride in training as a team and all levels are welcome to train with us. We encourage all our students to help develop other students, that way we get better as a whole.

What is a Gi? & What is No-GI?A Gi is an uniform & it consists of a jacket and pants that is closed with a ranked belt. No-Gi uniform consist of athletic shorts and a t-shirt. *Recommended Form-fitting athletic clothes like rash guards and board shorts

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a submission based martial art and combat sport. The main skill it emphasizes is taking an opponent to the ground, controlling them through pinning then isolating limbs (arm, legs neck) which leads to a submission (Armlocks, Leglocks, Strangles).

Is Jiu Jitsu Safe?At Garry Tonon Jiu Jitsu safety is paramount. Accidents may happen, however we have created and strive to maintain safe training practices. These are instilled from the first day in the academy no matter the level of experience.

Can women train Jiu Jitsu?Of course you can! BJJ is a heavily male populated sport, but women's Jiu Jitsu is thriving and all genders of all ages are welcomed into our team. We have created a very diverse and inclusive environment to train and we're proud to be so!

Is it safe for my child to train BJJ?Absolutely, Our growing kids program is well supervised and safe for children from 4+ to start training. Our kids program focuses on the core values of discipline, respect and hard work while allowing your child to have fun and be engaged.
